The Cooksey Family

Charles and Evelyn Cooksey moved to Antioch about two years ago from Pittsburgh, California where they lived for 25 years. They have two daughters, Latrese and Tawania, and a son, Larry. Their children were the passage that led them into foster care. They knew that if their friends needed a safe haven the Cooksey home was where they could go.

The Cookseys have been village keepers most of their lives, so the move into foster care felt natural for them. Their love and passion is for teenagers. They found their niche with them, so they request that teenagers be placed in their home although they are licensed to care for children ages 0-18. Their children, family and friends have been instrumental in assisting them with the care of these children. They try to make sure that the children that come to their home know that they are loved and valued.

The Cookseys adopted their teenage son Vernell two years ago and are in the process of adopting another teenager. They shared that “The work is much easier than you would think, so get involved today!”
